How to Replace a Transmission Line Watchband Spring

At a Work Bench

Materials: rubber gloves, 3/8-inch wrench for transmission line, 5/32-inch Allen wrench, replacement watch band springs, spare replacement teflon insulators, replacement rubbing shoes.

Access the bullet. Loosen the flange bolts with 3/8-inch wrench.
Separating the two pieces of transmission line. This will allow access to a bolt in the base of the bullet.
Using a 5/32 Allen wrench, loosen the bolt in the base of the connector completely. The Teflon “rubbing shoe” will then pop off the bullet when removed from the inner conductor.
Remove the watchband spring from the bullet.
Replace the watch band spring, making sure the link keeping the spring together (the smooth side) is on the inside when placed back on the bullet, as shown.
Replace the Rubbing shoe, keeping the flat side of the Teflon on the inside when placed on the bullet.
Slide the bullet back into the inner conductor, making sure the rubbing shoe and the watch band spring are inside the inner conductor. The bullet should bottom out on the overhanging shoulder.Re-insert the bolt in the base of the bullet and tighten securely.
Realign the two separated pieces of transmission line and tighten the flange bolts securely. Sealed correctly?
